Gov't Apologizes for Slavery & Jim CrowIn a historic move, the federal government apologized for slavery. The House of Representatives passed a resolution apologizing to blacks for slavery and the era of Jim Crow in a building built by slaves. Rep. Steve Cohen, a Democrat from Tennessee, drafted the resolution. Acknowledging the "injustice, cruelty, brutality and inhumanity of slavery and Jim Crow" the resolution states "the vestiges of Jim Crow continue to this day." Actions speak louder than words. "African-Americans continue to suffer from the consequences of slavery and Jim Crow -- long after both systems were formally abolished -- through enormous damage and loss, both tangible and intangible, including the loss of human dignity and liberty, the frustration of careers and professional lives, and the long-term loss of income and opportunity." I appreciate the apology but an apology is merely enough. I'll rejoice when we as a people are finally free!!!

"I'll rejoice when we as a people are finally free!!!" What utter drivel. Nowhere in the entire history of the world has a black person had the opportunities they have at this moment in the USA. Get some help for your paranoia, get over your hatred, and get to work. You're not being paid for your anger.

What would you know about the opportunities a black person in the USA has? you dont even sound black so how should you know. In events like hurricane Katrina you soon see what opportunities there are- and how much choice african american people have.
We are working-overcoming all the obstacles put in our way. thats why you have obama as your president.

Well for one thing, the federal government and every State government makes an apology like this every year. Why we would have to apologize for something that our great great great great grandfathers did makes no sense to me. We have more than made up for slavery with all the affirmative action that has taken place over the years. Laws that require a job to hire a certain amount of blacks. Laws that require a college to accept a certain number of blacks. These quotas ruin the business and colleges and screw over many people. A white person may be far more intelligent and have far more experience than a black person, but because the job or the college has to accept so many black people, the much smarter and more qualified white person gets rejected and the dumber, less qualified black person gets the job or is accepted to the college. I'm not saying that all white are better than blacks. I definitely disagree with that. There are some HORRIBLE white people just as there are some incredibly smart black people. I don't have any issue with that. What i have an issue with is when less qualified people get a job over more qualified people. It makes absolutely no sense to me.
I could go on for hours about this but I have more important things to do than type for hours on a blog of a racist black person. (and yes there sure as heck are tons of racist black people)
